We have assembled the best. We are not only cancer experts, we are breast cancer experts.
Our team is led by West Michigan's only fellowship-trained breast surgeons, Dr. Jamie Caughran and Dr. Jessica Keto.
Raising the bar in breast surgery, our surgeons have both completed fellowships, giving them additional, specific training in breast surgery and breast cancer care — training unmatched by anyone else in the region.
Fellowship-trained breast surgeons receive special training in breast surgery, as well as all aspects of breast care, including medical and radiation oncology, plastic surgery, pathology, radiology and psychology. They also receive extensive training in minimally invasive surgical techniques, from breast conservation surgery to needle biopsy procedures to detect cancer.
In addition, fellowship-trained breast surgeons can do ultrasound in the office for valuation of breast lesions, perform needle biopsies and insert radiation catheters in the breast in select patients.
Training under a fellowship allows a surgeon to focus specifically on a chosen field of interest and to operate within a specific specialty, thus offering more experience and training than general surgical training alone can provide.
A fellowship-trained breast surgeon has the experience and capacity to evaluate high-risk patients with genetic counseling and long-term follow up care to provide the comprehensive care patients need.

Our radiation oncology team is skilled in the use of Mammosite and Contura, a type of accelerated breast radiation treatment that delivers radiation from inside your breast, and affects only a very small portion of healthy tissue. It allows for a higher daily dose of very targeted radiation and decreases the radiation time for patients to 5 days vs. 5 to 7 weeks. All of the providers that you will find in the Comprehensive Breast Center are dedicated to breast cancer and the science supporting its diagnosis, treatment and survival.
Rest assured that by choosing the Comprehensive Breast Center you are choosing the best. We are one of only 12 breast centers in the country that have been designated as a Certified Quality Breast Cancer Center by the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers Program. We are the only Certified Quality Breast Cancer Center in Michigan and join the ranks of the national leaders in breast health, including Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Center in Baltimore, MD.

We are also an American College of Radiology Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. The Breast Imaging Center of Excellence (BICOE) designation is awarded to breast imaging centers that achieve excellence by seeking and earning accreditation in all of the ACR's voluntary breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program. |

In addition, we are the only program in Michigan to be endorsed by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. This accreditation signifies that our program is dedicated to providing the most efficient and contemporary care available for patients diagnosed with diseases of the breast. |
